Since I also worked in the industry for many years, I can attest to the truthfulness of the stories and as a dog owner, received many great training tips throughout the book. I am thrilled for Kathryn because not only is she an amazing trainer, she is an all-around good person and much deserving of all the accolades she is getting (and more!!)You go, girl!!!!!

I bought this book because I love dogs...I have chronic dog fever and live in Los Angeles and work in "the business" and thought "Why not buy it?" Well, this book has so much heart and is as funny as it is moving. I really loved the fact that the author's parents were so involved with this woman's career and so touching. If only more parents were so devoted we would be a better world. I always believed that a dog can teach a child how to love and Kathryn Segoura is written proof. I bought 4 more copies and these are all gifts for my canine loving friends and family (kids & adults). In times like these, we need a happy story.

First of all, this book is a wonderful format as a training guide as well as the inside scoop on how trainers get dogs to do all those amazing things that you see on film. The guide is full of simple things that actually work! I tried several of these with my dachshund and I actually got her to do quite a few with the methods in this book. She can now belly crawl, but then again for a low to the ground dog, that is not so hard. I don't know if she is ready for her close up yet, but I am going to keep trying. This would also make a wonderful gift for that hard to buy for dog lover....
This book is great fun - in fact so good I immediately ordered a second copy for my sister!

I spent years in the film business and hired many animal actors. So, I thought i knew that part of the industry. Well, "Hollywood Barks" took me further backstage than I have ever been.
Beyond the fun on-set anecdotes and functional behavior teaching techniques, there is the story of the Kathryn and her journey.
A wonderful and fun read and a great gift for anybody who loves animals and movies. Enjoy!
I read a few pages before starting dinner, then kept on reading while I stired the pots with one hand. It's that kind of book. A "just one more page" kindof read, and a perfect gift for anyone with a heart. While there's plenty in here to entertain, there's a lot ot think about with the success stories of rescue dogs. Kathy's training tips should send any pet owner for the treats to start their first lessons. She sounds like a pet lover as well as a trainer - not a dog factory for the movies. Which makes it easy for the rest of us to relate. Eileen Stein
